Veneers Dental Practice Alan Kruger

Veneers are a quick and relatively easy solution to crooked or broken teeth

Some patients feel embarrassed to smile due to crooked or broken off front teeth, but still do not wish to undergo long and complicated treatments.

In cases like these, veneers are a quick and relatively easy solution to the problem. Veneers are an important aid when it comes to improving cosmetic appearances. A veneer is a layer of tooth colored material placed over a single tooth, to improve its discolored appearance, or to protect its surface which has been damaged.

The whole character of a smile can be changed by fitting veneers over several teeth which may be crooked, have gaps in between, or are too short and worn down.

Multiple veneers can close these gaps, lengthen teeth that have been shortened by wear, fill the black triangles between teeth caused by gum recession, provide a uniform color, shape, and symmetry, and make the teeth appear straight again.

Small teeth with resulting spaces in between, that may not easily be closed by orthodontics, can be fitted with veneers to enlarge the teeth and thus close the spaces. Teeth with worn away edges resulting in a prematurely aged appearance, can be fitted with veneers to give a younger appearance again to the patient.

The two types of material used to make a veneer are composite and dental porcelain. A composite veneer may be built up directly on the tooth by the dentist in one visit. In contrast, a porcelain veneer may only be indirectly made by a dental technician in the first visit and fitted by the dentist in the second visit.
